Listed Cottage Garden

Brief: The clients desired a garden that matched the style of the property and created areas for entertaining and catching the sun at different times of the day.

Solution: The design created a layout for the garden that linked all areas well, creating a second seating area, with raised beds helping to enclose the space. Areas of Breedon gravel and reclaimed Yorkstone paving blended successfully with the property. A small brick edged lawn was surrounded with mixed planting, including small trees, climbers and bulbs.

Cottage Garden

Brief: The clients requested a planting scheme with a cottage, informal feel, to help blend the new extension with the existing old thatched cottage.

Solution: The planting scheme created a informal, cottage feel to the borders, with the plants helping to soften the gravel paths and terrace. A limited palette of purples, pinks and silvers were chosen for the planting, with roses and grasses adding to the structure to the borders. The design successfully met the aspirations of the client.

Rural Garden

Brief: To improve the existing garden, enhancing the existing terraces, and working with the changes in levels, creating a useable space with areas for entertaining and functional uses, giving an overall feel of cohesion.

Solution: The design for this garden creatively linked the house and garden as a whole, by creating areas such as a formal level lawn area, a reflective pool, a lavender and box garden, a South garden, all meeting the desires of the client.

" The garden has exceeded our expectations in terms of structure and planting. Amy Perkins produced all design drawings and planting plans on time, with care, good humour and expertise. She provided a service beyond the remit of the initial contract and has been a joy to work with".

Modern Garden

Brief: The client required a design for the garden that was modern in feel, incorporating the new cedar clad workshop. The clients requested different areas to sit in the garden, with planting that complemented the contemporary feel to the design.

Solution: A design that created two terraces and a courtyard area off the conservatory, with a modern, linear design. The straight lines have been softened with billowing planting. The choice of materials emphasised the modern feel, with sawn sandstone being specified, combined with panels of sandstone setts, providing a contrast to the smooth sawn paving.
